Training
Custom Plumbing Services (CPS) are very proud of our achievements in respect of training, particularly in regards to apprenticeships. Under the stewardship of our former founding director Mr John Stephens, our achievements are second to none in the ACT & surrounding region on training and ultimate awards for excellence. It is the intention of the current directors to continually strive to improve and build on the training traditions which CPS have established for over 40 years.
The accolades bestowed over the years on the apprentices and the company and most of all John have been an enormous encouragement for all concerned and in particular the apprentices themselves. Apprentice training is a huge commitment for the apprentices themselves, and the awards are a small way of the community saying thanks for a job well done.
CPS also promote training for all employee’s from Trades Assistants to Senior Management, with a range of courses which ultimately benefit the industry no matter where they are employed in the future. Courses relating to OH&S, technical courses related to the trade, project management, business management and IT are just a few of the course available for those interested in pursuing a total career in the field of plumbing.
Just some of the awards CPS apprentices have received in recent years are as follows (names have been omitted due to the number of awards);

Gerard Allen (pictured) who completed his apprenticeship with the company in 2010, is one of 16 recipients who have been granted a scholarship to the UK under the WorldSkills / Big Brother Movement Program. All recipients of this very prestigious award are gold medal winners at a national level of the 2010 World Skills Australia National competition.
Custom Plumbing was the proud employer of Rachel Keiley, who achieved regional and national recognition for her commitment to the trade. We must not forget all of our apprentices and indeed all employees alike who have contributed to the overall success of the company, some of whom have risen through the ranks to become supervisors, foreperson and leading hands on their way to a great career.
CPS recognizes the severe skill shortage in the commercial plumbing industry and to help build the industry we usually employ around 4 to 6 new apprentices each year through the ACT Master Builders Group Training Apprenticeship Scheme.
